Manufacturing Process Optimization and Data Quality Assurance
Knowledge for Change
Manufacturing Origins
Panoratio is well-acquainted with the manufacturing industry. Our technology grew out of work started at the Siemens AG Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning Laboratory. At the time, Siemens Westinghouse was being hampered by optimization issues regarding the installation and performance of gas turbine engines within its power plants. While sensors placed throughout the power plant generated extremely complex datasets, it proved impossible to close the performance loop and analyze them efficiently. Researchers solved this problem by developing of a pure software solution that reduces the dataset’s footprint without losing any of its granularity or complexity. The ability to load over 1000 operating dimensions of the plant played a crucial role in obtaining a 360° degree view of the power plant's gas turbine engine performance.
Increasing Complexity
Generally, speaking, as manufacturing processes grow in complexity, so does the amount of data these processes generate. Hundreds of processing and product testing steps need to be measured and somehow analyzed in context. This increases the already daunting barrier manufacturers face when looking at that data for approaches to optimize yields and drive down transformation costs. The challenge facing process and yield engineers today is how best to turn this data into usable knowledge and implement production changes to maximize yields.
High-tech production facilities monitor every aspect of the line process, resulting in an explosion in the number of equipment parameters. Manufacturers must possess a clear understanding of these parameters - how they behave in production chains; how, when and why they change; and how they affect yields. This is no longer a nice-to-have. It has become table-stakes.
Revolutionary In-memory Database and Analysis Technology
Panoratio’s revolutionary technology uses intelligent pattern recognition algorithms to compress and store the entire content of any type of large and complex datasets in an in-memory database. Effectively condensing the original data volume by as much as a factor of 30 and more, the technology enables the storage, observation, analysis, and exploration of vast, complex data structures with unparalleled speed and flexibility.
With PANOsight, domain experts can control analytical processes directly and on-site. Results can be interpreted immediately and the analytical process of interactive questions and follow-up questions can be pursued. Based on in-memory technology, business users and engineers alike are empowered to perform all analytical tasks with just a few clicks, arriving at answers immediately and then rapidly developing mitigating approaches based on those answers. Additionally, PanoSIGHT is optimally positioned to be integrated into Six Sigma projects.
