PDI - Configurator

PDI-Configurator for PDI Generation

The Java-based PDI-Configurator creates Portable Database Images (PDI) from virtually any data source, such as Oracle, DB2 and flat files. A PDI is a complete, but compressed image of an original data set. It is a breakthrough data format that enables fast, accurate, highly efficient data storage, query and analysis - of even the most complex data sets. The compressed representation of the data in the data file simplifies analytical operations through the underlying statistic modelling with Bayesian nets. The basic principle - the data sets are not filed in their original sequence, but grouped according to patterns, thus ‘squeezing the air’ out of them without compromising quality or accessibility.

In contrast to traditional compression procedures, where accessing compressed information requires some type of extraction process, compression and access are not separate steps. In short, the PDI captures all unaggregated detail data, serving as an unbiased analysis platform unhampered by the traditional limitations of analysis efforts.

Advantages at a glance

  • Transparent compression with a worldwide unique compression rate of between 1:20 and 1:100
  • No loss of information
  • No loss of granularity (all hierarchy-levels with all details accounted for)
  • Access any type of data source
